Smartweed
Smartweed (Polygonum spp.) is a long-blooming perennial witch has spikes of rosy-red or pink flowerings on top of clumps of green foliage that sometimes turns orange-red in the fall. Many different kinds of small birds are attracted to its oil-rich seeds in the fall, especially the sparrows and the finches.
The Smartweed likes partial to some shade, and soils that are moist and rich in organic matters. It can grow from a few inches up to 6ft (1.8m) depending on what specie you choose.
