Mulleins
Mulleins (Verbascum thapsus) will grow in ground-hugging clumps of gray, fuzzy leaves, and have very long stems witch will be covered in small white or yellow flowerings in spring time. Many different kinds of birds will feed on its seeds, like the sparrows, the finches, and the chickadees. In the winter time there will be plenty of over wintering bugs, and insect to feast on for insect eating birds like the downy woodpeckers.
A definite must, is an attractive stone birdbath in the middle of those long flowering stems witch will provide privacy for timid little drinking and bathing birds. The Mulleins likes’ average-to-poor, well-drained soils in sunny spots, and will grow 3-6ft (.9-1.8m) tall.
