Educate Yourself About the Red Mulberry and Other Mulberry Trees
Red Mulberry
Red Mulberry (Morus rebra), bare red juicy fruit, that are eaten by at least 44 different birds. When you put out your bird feeding tables, they should always be put next to or close by a tree or shrub, for the visiting bird’s protection. By planting males and females together you will have ample pollination.
Do not plant this tree near a sidewalk because the fruit that falls is really messy. The Red Mulberry likes full sun to some shade, a rich, deep, and well drainage soil is perfect. Try to prune this tree every winter because it is very rapid growing. Putting up some bird feeders or bird tables, in and around the tree is great idea. The Red Mulberry will grow up to “between” 40-70ft (12-21m) and has a spread of 40-50ft (12-15m).
