Educate Yourself About the Eastern Hemlock and Its Visiting birds

Eastern Hemlock

Eastern Hemlock (Tsuga Canadensis), will do best in shade, but needs moist, loamy soil and protection from wind. Birds like Chickadees, goldfinches, crossbills and siskins are especially attracted to its seeds. Putting up hanging bird feeders and or bird feeding tables on and next to the tree, will give great protection from predators like crows and falcons and is always a good idea.

Rousting and nesting birds will include the Morning Dove and the Northern Cardinal. The Eastern Hemlock can grow up to “between” 50-80ft (15-24m), and have a spread of 30ft (9m).
