If you have cats around, try to place your hanging birdfeeder outside your cat’s territory, if that is at all possible. As you know, cat’s love birds, and they will often play and torture their pray without even eating them. Try to keep your cat inside the house in early mornings and late afternoons. Placing a bell around your cat’s neck might help as well.

Your dog can also be an intimidating presence for a timid little bird. You could perhaps try to verbally discourage, mans best friend, but the best thing would probably be, to have a fence around your beautiful bird feeding garden area.
