Learn How to Make Peanut-Doughnut Delights for Birds

Peanut-Doughnut Delights

Here is a recipe you will have lots of fun making, and also attract lots of different kinds of birds to your friendly bird feeding garden.

Here is what you need:Doughnut cutter

2 eggs 5 tablespoons melted shortening

1 cup sugar 4 teaspoons baking powder

1 cup milk 1 cup unsalted peanuts, finely chopped

4 cups all-purpose flour also crush some extra peanuts or cornmeal

that will be used for glaze

Lard or oil for frying

1) Mix eggs, sugar, milk, shortening, baking powder, flour and the chopped peanuts

evenly. Put the dough in the refrigerator for 25-30 minutes, to make the dough less

sticky, and easier to handle.

2) Heat the lard or oil to 375 degrees F, in a deep pan, and then roll or press the dough

out to ½ inch thickness.

3) Use a doughnut cutter to cut the doughnuts from the rolled dough.

4) Immediately put doughnuts in the heated oil or lard, (dip the spatula in the oil before

using it, it will make the doughnuts slide off easier), and then slide them one by one

into the heated oil or lard.

5) Let the doughnuts fry for around 2-3 minutes, and then turn them over, and while the

doughnuts are frying, put a triple layered paper towel down, and sprinkle it with your

crushed peanuts or cornmeal. Do not forget about your doughnuts.

6) Lift the fried doughnuts, with the spatula, out of the pan, and place them on the

crushed peanuts on the paper towel. Turn them over to coat them on both sides. If

you have trouble with the peanuts sticking; glace them with a thin layer of peanut-

butter, and try again.

7) When they are cool enough, you can either put them on your bird feeding table, or

make a simple hanging doughnut board to hang your freshly made bird treats on.

Just take any size board you can find, hammer long, stout nails into it, and hang it off a

post in your friendly bird feeding garden. ENJOY!!!
