You can have a good time with making up your different kinds of custom made birdseed blends, and at the same time have a fun project to teach your kids or grandkids some about measurements. Use your regular measuring cups for this basic kid’s recipe that will attract many different kinds of birds.

10 cups of black oil sunflower seeds 4 and ¾ cups flaxseeds

6 and ½ cups millet 5 cups safflower seeds

3 and ½ cups cracked corn 2 and ¾ cups untreated grass seeds

1 ¾ cup niger seeds 1 cup hulled peanuts

Obviously you do not have to use the smaller measurements to complete this birdseed mixture. You can also use any kind of combination of birdseeds you prefer, but remember that the kind of birdseed you use will determine what kind of birds will visit you in your bird feeding garden.
