Here is what you need:1 x 6 or 1 x 10 knot-free pine boards, depending on which size of

birdhouse you like to build

Nails, screws and a metal hinge.

1) Choose the size birdhouse you like to build from the chart above and measure and mark lumber for cutting.

2) Cut out the six pieces of the birdhouse-two sides, front, back, roof and bottom.

3) Mark the entrance hole on the front piece, clamp the piece securely to a work-table, and drill out the entrance hole, with the right size drill bit.

4) Using a ½ inch drill bit, drill four drainage holes in the bottom four corners, and four vent holes in the top four corners.

5) Also drill two holes at the base of the back piece, (these are used to mount the birdhouse), with screws.

6) Using one nail on each side, attach the side pieces to the bottom piece.

7) Nail the front piece to the bottom.

8) Nail the front piece to the sides.

9) Nail the back piece in place.

10)Now, you are ready to choose a great location for your new birdhouse, (do not forget to put some wood chips at the bottom of it, DO NOT use sawdust, it will get moist and moldy real fast. Also remember not to put up nest boxes close to your feeding stations, because the nesting birds like it nice and quiet Use the metal hinge to attach the roof to a post, tree or your house wall. ENJOY!!!!
