Learn About Ground Feeders and How to Protect them

Learn about ground feeders

For a well planned backyard and or garden, you should not only have hanging bird feeders, you should have bird tables and places made ready for feeding on the ground. This will increase your chances of having a lot of different kinds of birds visiting. To prepare a place for ground feeding birds you just need to have an area of bare soil and composting leaves where the ground feeding birds can scratch, grit and have a good time.

Remember though, that ground feeding is best for the ground feeding birds during dryer summer months. Rain, dew and snowy weather can spoil the food and make a hygiene problem for you. This will also attract rats and mice witch could cause an unhealthy situation as well. For this reason it might be better to serve your food on low feeding tables or in ground feeders, the kind that is called hoppers, during the winter months.
